I am a toxicologist with a background in investigating the effects of nanoparticles, including air pollution particulate matter, on in vitro cell models of the lung. Previous particles I have worked with include carbon nanotubes, biodiesel and diesel particulate matter, and shipping-associated particulate matter. I am transitioning to an independent Fellowship on the theme of Climate and Health. My research will focus on exploring the impact of rising ambient temperatures on particulate matter-associated lung and heart disease. This interdisciplinary research will involve collaborations with colleagues at the National Oceanography Centre and 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI), as well as knowledge exchange with external partners.
I am a Champion of Coastal Communities Special Interest Group (SMMI) as well as a representative on the Faculty of Medicine Postdoctoral and Fellowship Mentoring Committees. I am the Lead for “Have a Breath of Fresh Air” – a team involved in engaging the public about air quality and respiratory health. I also am actively involved in school workshops and the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载’s Meet the Scientist programme.
I joined the MSc Allergy programme as Deputy Assessment Lead and am involved in mentoring (Personal Academic Tutor 2021-), teaching, and supervising in the Faculty of Medicine.
