Dr. Isobel Thompson is a Research Fellow and Senior Technical Manager at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载, working on interdisciplinary healthy ageing research and providing technical support within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Her current research position focuses on developing and evaluating novel home-based technologies to support older adults’ strength and wellbeing, combining usability testing, community engagement, and health outcome assessments. In her technical role, she supports staff and students across Health Sciences laboratories on both university campuses and at 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 General Hospital.
Izzy completed her PhD at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载, where she worked with British Swimming and the UK Sports Institute to explore interventions for improving underwater fly kick performance. She later held a Research Fellowship in the Performance Sports Engineering Laboratory, supporting the development of freestyle techniques. While no longer working directly in sports research, she maintains a strong interest in this field and continues to engage with ongoing research.
In addition to her academic roles, Izzy has contributed to consultancy projects with National Governing Bodies affiliated with the UK Sports Institute, as well as industrial partners including Speedo and Essity. Her work spans both sports and health science applications, offering practical insights grounded in biomechanical expertise and real world impact.
