Adam is a PhD candidate in Politics in the School of Economic, Social, and Political Sciences. His PhD is focused on applying John Stuart Mill's harm principle to public health policy and assessing how the state can regulate the collective harm of air pollution.
Adam is currently researching Mill's harm principle and the collective harm of air pollution. This research aims to offer a substantive version of the harm principle that allows the state to regulate the behaviour of those who contribute to air pollution.
I am currently a PhD candidate in Politics in the school of Economic, Social, and Political Sciences.
My project is funded by the ESRC and is focused on applying John Stuart Mill’s harm principle to public health policy. Specifically, I am interested in how the collective harm of air pollution can be consistently regulated with John Stuart Mill’s harm principle and public health policy. My research is interdisciplinary and utilises empirically engaged normative political theory and analytical philosophy to inform a greater understanding of public health policy.
I obtained a BA in Philosophy from the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 in 2018 and a MSc in Global Ethics and Justice from the University of Birmingham in 2019. I then completed an ESRC funded MSc in Social Research Methods from the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 in 2021 (through the South Coast Doctoral Training Programme) and began the PhD project.
