Research project

HEIF 2022/23 Evidencing a seastate allowance for inshore fishing vessels by model scale testing

Project overview

This project conducts the model scale stability assessment of a low freeboard, inshore fishing vessel of typical proportions and assesses its survivability in waves.

It aims to demonstrate whether a typical low-freeboard decked vessel is sufficiently safe from capsizing in waves when operated within a seastate orientated allowance determined via the Wolfson Stability Method, and to provide such evidence to the policymakers.
