This session will cover an insight into the day-to-day life of a policy advisor within national government and top tips for researchers to engage effectively with policy makers.
Grace Compton
Grace is the Specialist Policy Officer for the Sustainability and Resilience Institute at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载, working to enhance the impact of their interdisciplinary research. She collaborates with policymakers to provide the evidence needed to make informed, evidence-led decisions on sustainability policies. She has first-hand experience in the design and delivery of Climate Response and Energy Transition policies, working with central government and civil servants.
Emily Cole
Emily worked as a Senior Policy Advisor for biodiversity net gain at the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for two years before starting her PhD in 2023 within the School of Geography and Environmental Science. Her research focuses on the implementation of climate change and biodiversity targets within English local governments. She aims to incorporate insights from her time in national government, and more recent policy experience working in local government to inform her research. Emily previously completed an MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载, and a BSc in Zoology at the University of Reading.
