About

Miriam Santer is a GP at Denmark Road Medical Centre in Bournemouth and a Professor of Primary Care Research in the Faculty of Medicine.

Her broad research interests and collaborations include a particular focus on supporting self-management for long-term conditions. 

Professor Santer co-leads NIHR programmes on supporting self-management for eczema and acne and an RCT of spironolactone vs placebo for the treatment of acne in women. 

Other research interests include NIHR programme grants: Rapid and Efficient Eczema Trials (RAPID); PROMPPT Management of Opioids and Persistent Pain study; Preventing food allergy in infants and NIHR HTA-funded trials: BEE (Best Emollient for Eczema); TIGER (Trial of Eczema allergy Screening Tests); COAT (cellulitis); gout and OTTER (omeprazole for reflux in infants).

Miriam is a NIHR Senior Investigator and Academic PPIE lead for the NIHR School for Primary Care Research.
