Bachelor of Medicine European - BM(EU)

We're reviewing this course as part of our regular quality assurance process.

This may result in some changes to course content or delivery of the course in 2025.

In 2025, BM(EU) Year 1 students will study an improved and updated course. This will have more clinical learning time and embedded research experience. The major change, to enable this, is the removal of the research project in Year 3 and the associated integrated BMedSc award.

Graduate with the theoretical and practical skills to work in both the UK and Germany with 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载's innovative Bachelor of Medicine BM(EU) programme. This programme is delivered in partnership between the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 and Gesundeit Nordhessen Holding (GNH) .

On successful graduation, you will receive a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) degree. After satisfactory completion of Foundation Year 1 (FY1) in Germany, you will be able to qualify for full General Medical Council (GMC) registration.

You will be part of a small cohort studying a wide range of science and clinical disciplines to gain an understanding of medical practice and develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes you need to work as a doctor.

From the very start of your course you will gain clinical experience in several different settings, both in hospitals and general practice.

For the last 3 years you will study with our partner, the Kassel School of Medicine?in Germany, where you will gain clinical experience of a different healthcare system.

You will graduate with a UK, GMC-approved, primary medical Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) degree. On successful completion of the first 3 years, including the research project, you will also receive a Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSc).

Programme structure

The BM(EU) follows the traditional Bachelor of Medicine 5-year programme (BM5) , but is delivered across 2 countries in 2 languages, allowing you to compare and contrast 2 successful healthcare systems. It is 1 year shorter than traditional German medical programmes.

In the first 2 years at 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载, you will learn about the major body stems and how they work, both in health and disease. Your learning will be embedded in a clinical context. You will also undertake student selected units in medical humanities and public health interventions. Year 2 includes a Research into Medicine and Health module, as well as systems-based modules to equip you with the basic tools to understand research methodology and prepare you for your research project.

In your final 3 years in Kassel, you will complete your research project, as well as a bespoke German Medical Practice module. The majority of your final years are almost exclusively clinical in a range of healthcare settings. During these 3 years, you will remain a University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 student.

The BM(EU) application process is separate from UCAS, with students applying directly to 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载/Kassel School of Medicine. The application period is April to June/July for the following September intake.
