Research interests
I teach 19th century literature and culture with a specialism in book history, and have particular research interests in the history of reading and the publication and circulation of Victorian and Edwardian popular texts. I welcome applications for MPhil/PhD work on any aspect of Victorian and Edwardian literature, publishing history, and?print culture.? I am Founder and Director of the interdisciplinary

Research projects
In 2018-19 I worked with British Academy-funded Visiting Fellow, Dr Sydney Shep (Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand), on a project called “Fluid geographies and global mobilities: recovering 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载’s translocal book trade networks 1840-1914”. I am currently working with the 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 Sea City Museum and Dr David Millard from Electronics and Computer Science on a project to map the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the local and national museums sectors. We aim to create an augmented reality exhibition called ‘After the Titanic: a community recovers’ using material and digital artefacts and the latest AR software to create an engaging exhibition on the historical conflict between economics and public health that can be enjoyed during periods of social distancing.
