About
Katherine Kwa is a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow. She is working on improving the station-keeping design of floating offshore renewable energy infrastructure at the Civil, Maritime and Environmental Engineering Department, University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载. She is also part of the Supergen Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Hub, and the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) Chair Centre of Excellence for Intelligent & Resilient Ocean Engineering (IROE).
Her first degree was in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) from The University of Sydney, Australia where she also completed a PhD in 2019 on the ‘Liquefaction behaviour of shipped metallic ores from a soil mechanics perspective’. She moved to The University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 in mid-2019 and is now using her background in geotechnical engineering to harness beneficial seabed effects around anchoring systems and embed them in station-keeping design to unlock floating offshore renewable energy infrastructure system efficiencies.
