Master 2 modern languages that play a key role on the world stage, choosing from French, German or Spanish. You'll start at undergraduate level and get a master’s in 4 years with this integrated master's degree.
Spend a year of this 4 year degree on a placement at a university abroad. Develop your language skills while learning about another country's culture, history and thought.
You can choose one language you have not studied. You'll get extra hours of teaching and a language course abroad at the end of year 1 to make fast progress.
Whichever languages you choose, you'll:

Course structure
Each year combines compulsory modules to build your mastery of your chosen languages with a wide range of options. This allows you to tailor your learning to suit your interests and ambitions.
Year 1 overview
You study both chosen languages and explore how languages develop in situations they are spoken in.
We work out which language level you are at to give you the best possible start to develop your skills.
You study the history, politics and culture of a society where your languages are spoken.
Year 2 overview
You continue your study of your chosen languages.
You can also choose modules that equip you with different ways to study cultures and languages.

You also prepare for your year abroad.
Year 3 overview
Spend a period of time studying abroad. You can either spend all the time in 1 country or split between 2 countries. This gives you the opportunity to practise both your languages and get to know new cultures and people.

We’ll support you with regular video calls and emails.
Year 4 overview
After returning to the UK, you’ll take master's-level modules and can focus on areas of interest you've developed during your studies.

We'll aim to process your application within 2 to 6 weeks, but this will depend on when it is submitted. Applications submitted in January, particularly near to the UCAS equal consideration deadline, might take substantially longer to be processed due to the high volume received at that time.
