Automatic enrolment for our pension schemes

Every three years the University is required to automatically enrol all eligible staff into one of our pension schemes; USS, USRF or NEST, depending on colleagues’ individual eligibility. Information about the requirement can be found here.

天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 auto-enrolment window is fast approaching in our June 2025 payroll, so we will shortly be e-mailing staff who are on the list to be auto-enrolled alerting them of this change.

If you are eligible, but you don’t want to be in a pension scheme, you will be able to opt out after the June payroll and you will receive a refund of any contributions paid.?You can contact the University Pensions team?for information about how to opt out or join.

We realise some colleagues will be in roles where they do not regularly check their University e-mail account, so we would appreciate the support of line managers in letting their teams know these e-mails are coming.

Colleagues who are eligible for USRF will default to 6% employee contributions at auto-enrolment, but they can opt to enrol in the scheme and set a 0% employee contribution. Taking this option (rather than opting out) means the members still receive the University’s 10% employer contribution into their pension each month.? More information about this option can be found here.

If you would like any of our pension information in a different language please e-mail pensions@soton.ac.uk; our pension scheme providers and the University are committed to improving member communications.

For any colleagues with worries about their finances information about additional support is available here.
