Parking charges will be reintroduced – UPDATE 08:00 Wednesday 7 May 2025

UPDATE 8:00 Wednesday 7 May 2025

Please see the latest SUSSED post on the pause in charging

UPDATE 14:30 Tuesday 6 May 2025

We have become aware of a technical issue with payment by QR code in some of our smaller parking areas. Please be assured that if you are affected by this issue today, you will not be issued with a Parking Charge Notice. We will provide an update once we have a resolution on this SUSSED post.

Following our recent announcement of the pause in reintroduction of charging, parking charges will be reintroduced from today in all our permit-controlled car parks.

Please do ensure that you have registered your card payment details on the APCOA system by this date.

For colleagues who park in our larger car parks (at South Broadlands, Hamptons, Physics, Boldrewood and Avenue), these payments will be taken automatically. If you have already loaded your payment details onto the APCOA portal, no further action is needed.

For some parking areas, mostly where there is a small group of parking bays, a further action of submitting payment through a QR code will be required each time you park in these locations.

There is physical signage in these parking areas displaying the QR code. Once you have scanned this it will take you to the APCOA parking portal for you to sign in. Please use the shorter version of your staff email.

You can see all our car parking areas on our campus map, and locations where car parks are using QR codes or ANPR are now labelled.

Please note that car parking charges do not apply to Grade 1a/1b staff, Essential Car Users, Blue Badge holders or staff who travel to work by motorcycle.

Colleagues may see ‘expired permit’ when in the “view my permit section” for daily payments, please be reassured if you have added your payment details there is no action required and the permit is active.

Improvements to the system

We have taken the opportunity of the pause to introduce a number of improvements to both the parking portal and ways to pay in some of our smaller car parking areas:

  • A number of our smaller car parking areas now have signs with QR codes that will enable colleagues to register their arrival via the APCOA portal to ensure payment can be taken for that day. This has been introduced to streamline the process for colleagues and ensure that Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) are not issued in error. Please do check signs when you use our car parks and spaces.
  • We have also worked with APCOA to improve and develop the parking portal experience for colleagues, including clarifying the log in page with the payment options for staff.

We thank colleagues for their patience and here is a reminder below of the daily payment details.
