Staff are invited to join a webinar organised by the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team focusing on trans awareness, on Wednesday 7 May 2025.
The webinar will be presented by Beyond Reflections, a local charity working to create a safe community for trans+ people and their allies, providing support designed with and for the community.
The session will cover:
- Definitions of what being trans+ means
- Pronouns and their use – and what to do if you ‘get it wrong’
- How to be an effective ally
- The differences between sex and gender
- How identity (including gender identity) is part of real lives
- The Equality Act and its use in practice.
The session will be delivered by Beyond Reflections’ Chief Executive Officer, Dr Gillian Russell. Gillian is a speaker, coach, psychologist, committed ally and trans person.
The session will include a presentation, which will be recorded for those that are not able to attend at this time. The presentation will be followed by a non-recorded question and answer session.
This one-hour Teams webinar will be held on Wednesday 7 May 13:00-14:00.
