A group of five second year Civil Engineering?students have designed and built a structure that now stands in front of our Boldrewood Innovation Campus. The structure has been realised as part of the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment’s first Design Show.
Integral to the design curriculum, ten student groups designed structures that were presented to, and judged by, an industry panel which included representatives from Kier and Mott MacDonald. The project ties in with an increased connection between our Civil Engineering design curriculum and 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 City Council.
The design brief asked for a temporary structure for a site in 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 adjacent to the medieval walls. This winning structure was designed to screen an existing unsightly footbridge, and to create a celebratory gateway for visitors.

The Design Show showcases Professor William Powrie’s, Dean of Engineering and Environment, views on engineering at the University:
“天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 students learn the principles of engineering during their studies and demonstrate their understanding through designing, building and testing exciting products that will make a difference to people’s lives.”
The structure now stands at our Boldrewood Campus. This is the first year that a student group’s design has been constructed at full scale, and the department has plans to make it an annual event.
