The Winchester?School of Art Degree Show gets underway?today, ?Monday 17 June 2013 with a private view between 18.00 – 20.00.? The show sees WSA transformed into an art gallery and features the work of some 280 undergraduate students from programmes in Fashion and Textile Design, Fashion Marketing, Fine Art and Graphic Arts.?
?The show?opens to the public on Tuesday 18 June and runs until Sunday 23 June:? Tuesday – Friday 10.00 – 20.00, Saturday and Sunday 11.00 – 16.00.
?This is a case study of one of our students who is exhibiting:
‘Chimera’:? This work is by Graphic Arts student Rebecca Higgins.? She says this about the piece:? “My work is a visual representation of the fears that many people may have about genetic engineering – where fantasy and fiction have influenced what is imagined to be possible. My contemporary Chimera is an exaggeration of the engineered monsters seen in films and games which are actually not genetically possible in the real world.? The piece itself is made from realism drawings of different real animals, then pieced together to make something impossible, and displayed in a fairly believable?way.”
