A new initiative between the University and the UK’s No.1 Access Guide provider? DisabledGo? has been launched to increase the number of disabled students and staff at the University. DisabledGo Education and DisabledGo Jobs include detailed access guides to the college campuses and advertisement of job vacancies on the award–winning DisabledGo website registering over 100?000 unique users a month.
The project will encourage greater use of the university’s facilities by disabled students? and members of the public and has been designed to widen participation.
In 2001? DisabledGo was founded by Dr Gregory Burke following a 2 year consultation period with disabled people from across the country. Now working with 70 local authorities and over 600 groups of local disabled people annually, DisabledGo has grown to become the UK’s largest disability information provider on the internet.
The University is proud to be showcasing this progressive approach to disability support that will assist disabled students, staff and members of the public across the region.
In keeping with the University’s longstanding commitment to equality and diversity, this initiative will actively encourage a traditionally hard to reach group in society, fulfill its potential.
