Professor Matthew Johnson is a Visiting Professor of Archaeology at the University of 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载.

I joined Archaeology at 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 in 2004 from Durham, where I was Lecturer and then Professor. I was Head of Archaeology between 2005 and 2008, and was Deputy Head of School and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Humanities between 2009 and 2011. In 2011, I moved from 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 to Northwestern University in the USA. I am now affiliated to 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 in a Visiting Professor role, and continuing research and field projects in southern England in collaboration with 天发娱乐棋牌_天发娱乐APP-官网|下载 staff and research students.

Research interests

My research interests include Archaeology of Britain and Europe, AD1200-1800, especially castles, traditional houses, ‘polite' architecture, landscape, and contributions to a global historical archaeology; and Archaeological theory, especially interdisciplinary and interpretive approaches, theory of medieval/historical archaeology, and archaeology in its cultural context.
