15. | Progression Monitoring and Reviews Progression reviews - timings | |
15.18 | Every student who enrolled on their studies after 1 August 2016 is required to undertake Progression Reviews as outlined in the Summary of timings of progression reviews for students who enrolled on their studies on or after 1 August 2016 tables below. The Second Progression Review is known as Confirmation of Doctoral Candidature and must be successfully completed before the student may submit a thesis for examination. | Variation Applies to all students entering the IGNITE programme from the 2024/25 academic year onward. Applies all to all students entering the INSPIRE programme from the 2022/23 academic year onwards. Eligible IGNITE and INSPIRE studentship holders will have opportunity to undertake two placements of up to three months each following successful completion of the Second Progression Review (Confirmation of Doctoral Candidature). Subject to approval by the IGNITE and INSPIRE Management Team, studentship holders who undertake these placements will be provided with a candidature extension equivalent to the duration of each placement. Any extension to candidature will also result in an adjustment to the standard timings applicable to the Third Progression Review. Where placements are taken, they will be considered to be an integral and assessed part of the studentship holder’s PhD programme. Following the completion of each placement, the studentship holder will be required to produce and submit a reflective report which demonstrates their learning and skills. Reflective reports will be reviewed and assessed as part of the material submitted by the studentship holder for the Third Progression Review. However, the assessment of these reports will not form part of the criteria required for successful completion of the Third Progression Review. |
These regulations should be read in conjunction with the Doctoral Programme Profile.
